To Qualify as an Immigrant Investor, an Applicant Must:
• have managed and controlled a percentage of the equity of a Qualifying Business for at least 2 years within the previous 5-year period
OR
• have managed at least 5 full-time employees for at least 2 years within the previous 5-year period
AND
• have a legally obtained net worth of at least 1,600,000 $ CAD
• undertake to invest 800,000 $ CAD for a period of five years and two months. The Government of Canada will allocate the funds for investment with the participating Canadian provinces and a Non-transferable Zero Interest Promissory Note, fully guaranteed by participating provinces, will be issued for subsequent repayment, without interest
• express an intent to settle in a Canadian province or territory outside of Quebec.
The Process
• Applicants must be represented by an immigration lawyer or consultant who is an agent of a financial intermediary.
• An Application for Permanent Residence in Canada and a Background declaration is completed for the applicant, his/her spouse as well as any dependent aged 18 years or older together with an Additional Family Information form and an Economic classes form. These forms together with all supporting documentation are submitted to one of the Canadian Visa Offices around the world that process business applications.
• Applicants must sign 2 original Subscription Agreements, 1 Power of Attorney and 1 Investor's Acknowledgment form and remit these documents to the Immigrant Investor Program at a financial intermediary.
• The Canadian immigration authorities evaluate the application and conduct an interview at one of the Canadian Visa Offices.
• After a conditional acceptance by the Canadian immigration authorities, the funds to be invested are deposited in the investor's personal account at the financial intermediary.
• The financial intermediary sends all required documentation together with the investment funds to the Business Immigration Centre of Citizenship and Immigration Canada in Ottawa.
• A Canadian Permanent Residence Visa is issued and investors are welcome to land in Canada.
• The immigrant investment is allocated, by the Canadian Federal government, to the participating Canadian provinces and a Non-transferable Zero Interest Promissory Note, fully guaranteed by the participating provinces, will be issued to the investor.
The Options
With Financing
Requires a payment of 220,000 $ CAD from the Investor. The financial intermediary shall secure a bank loan of 580,000 $ CAD on behalf of the Investor. No further payment is required from the Investor. The initial payment of 220,000 $ CAD is used to pay the interest on the bank loan and other financing charges. No balance is repaid to the Investor at the end of the five (5) year term.
Without Financing
Requires a payment of 800,000 $ CAD from the Investor. No further payment is required from the Investor. At the end of the five (5) year term, the 800,000 $ CAD is repaid to the Investor.
Please note that there are no management fees, administrative fees or service charges of any kind payable by the Investor. |
